windows 7 black page with white writing and  purple top bar and page progressloading  indicator
I have a black screen with white writing. The top bar is purple and the task bar is black the same as the page. When the page loads, the indicator at the bottom to show loading progress is purple. How can I get back to a white screen as this is very tiring on the eyes. Should I go into the display settings and if so, hwta do i set everything as?I have done an AVG scan and there were lots of cookies removed but no virus it seems. I though on restarting after installing the latest windows updates we might be right again but seems not.Yesterday when start was clicked the menu came up as grey almost like old windows........can someone please help me find and correct the problem. Many thanks

Hi gimmealook, It seems the system is using the "Basic and High Contrast Themes". Please right click on the Desktop -> Personalization -> select the default Windows 7 Aero theme named "Windows 7". What is the result? If the issue persists, please crate a new user account and see if the issue occurs. Also, could you please capture some screenshots of the current situation and settings in Personalization by the steps below? 1. Go to Start, type snipping in the Search box and then press Enter. 2. Drag the cursor on the screen. 3. Click File -> Save As 4. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot". 5. Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click "Desktop" on the left pane and then click "Save". 6. Repeat the above steps to capture a screenshot of the settings in "Personalization" by right clicking on the Desktop. 7. Please upload the screenshots to your SkyDrive at www.skydrive.live.com and let us know the link. Regards, Linda

Hi LindaMany thanks for the reply. My partner had a fiddle with the computer when he came back from work and managed to sort it out before your reply came through.I think my son must have changed the settings etc when he changed the screen save and desktop themes. As it is all sorted I can't obviously give you a screen shot and this isn't really necessare is it now.I am not familiar with windows 7 as its new but i will make a point of having a fiddle and explore. Many thanks again for the reply.RegardsSue
